Training in February - Introduction to Disaster Services

The Salvation Army - Introduction to Disaster Services

February 4, 2012 9:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.

Town and Country Manor 555 E. Memory Lane, Santa Ana

qThe cost for the course is $40 (lunch is not included) and consists of three sessions: Session 1 - Introduction to Disaster Services. This section will give the participants basic information about how The Salvation Army interfaces with government and faith-based organizations, and information and tools to communicate effectively and collaborate skills with other agency personnel in disaster areas. Information regarding social services in disaster relief is also discussed.

Session 2 – Training and Mobile Feeding Units. This session prepares participants to serve on the Salvation Army mobile kitchen and introduces them to the essentials of safe and sanitary food preparation (ServSafe food safety standards) and canteen operation.

Session 3 – Volunteer Rapid Deployment Training.  This session teaches participants how to prepare and equip themselves for disaster deployment.
