Rebuilding after Katrina

The Gulf Still Needs Our Help...
As I stood in line with the Hope Force team waiting for my Subway sandwich, the gentleman behind me asked, "What are you all doing here?" I explained about the housing reconstruction going on in Biloxi. His response startled me. . ."So you mean they still need help?"

Bringing Hope and Smiles to the Children of Biloxi
On the August 29th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, our Hope Force workers in Biloxi, Mississippi, participated in a city playground project at John Henry Beck Park. The day was organized by a group called KABOOM! which partnered with Hands on Network, Home Depot and Playworld Systems, overseeing the reconstruction of 10 playgrounds in 4 days in the Gulf Region.

Rebuilding After Katrina
Rebuilding After Katrina
Hope Force has had the privilege of serving the victims of Hurricane Katrina by sending individuals and teams to help rebuild the homes of the under-insured - or those with no insurance at all - through "Project Rebuild." Coevie Lameuse is one of these brave people whom we are privileged to serve, and here is her story.

The Three Week Miracle:
The Three Week Miracle:
Our Hope Force team in Biloxi was asked by Councilman Bill Stallworth to take on another house and complete it in just three weeks time. In addition to his city council responsibilities, Councilman Stallworth is the director of the East Biloxi Relief and Coordination Center. We had originally planned to say no for many reasons, largely because we were already over-extended in the number of homes that we were in the process of re-building. The reason for the three-week timeline was due to the fact that a wealthy celebrity was considering making a donation to repair 70 homes. In correlation with this, there was an urgent need to complete at least two homes that would be spotlighted in a special program -- hosted by the celebrity -- which would focus on the need in East Biloxi.
