Project Coordinator Craig Snow recalls his emotions a few days after Katrina struck: “When the aerial photos came out, I recognized homes of people I knew. Then, I got an email from a friend who had lost her home and was asking for anyone who could come and help salvage anything left. But, the only thing left on the property was the swimming pool filled with debris and sand.” When seeing the photos of the devastation and what it looked like right after the storm, it is still hard to put your arms around all that was lost.” , Craig and his wife, Beckie, now find themselves residents of Biloxi, hosting teams from across the country who desire to bring skills, compassion and hope to the community.

Project Rebuild completed work on 28 homes in 2006, with a goal of another 30 in 2007. Though progress is evident on the streets of East Biloxi, so many residents are still displaced, waiting for help. It is estimated that approximately 25% of the residents are back in their homes, with another 20% of the homes under construction -- leaving a lot of people still needing help.

Volunteers are still needed! Our partner, The Salvation Army, provides housing for teams at the Project Teamwork Village. Teams are requested to recruit one skilled worker (who is able to provide oversight) for every three unskilled workers. Carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing and concrete skills are especially helpful. Please come join us and experience the opportunity of touching the lives of those in need with compassionate action. We promise you: your life will never be the same!
