As followers of Jesus, we are rapidly approaching the time when we ponder the most significant event in all the cosmos – an act of love beyond comprehension, unfathomable in scope and eternal in purpose. We celebrate the irreversible provision of redemption for the object of Father God’s great love and affection: people … made in His image. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”. (John 3:16)
Just take that in for a minute and let it soak right into your innermost being. The God of the universe, the Creator of all things seen and unseen, loves us so much that He became like us for a little while, that we might be like Him and with Him for all eternity. Amazing grace, how sweet the sound!
Now may this great truth inspire us to go and do likewise… compelling us to express the love God has for us all in ways so attractive, so relevant and so compelling that people are drawn to the Person of Jesus in us. A listening ear, a comforting word, a meal for the hungry, a hand for the helpless… little things and bigger things…. What counts is our faith, expressing itself through love. (Galatians 5:6) Being loved as we are, we can love!
