HFI Responds to Southern California Fires

Hope Force International has responded to the southern California wildfires in several ways. With our various partners, Hope Force was able to identify and meet the needs of many of those affected by this devastating disaster. "Volunteer San Diego", Hope Force International and Social Venture Partners recently conducted a donation drive through a televised appeal to raise needed donations, resulting in the distribution of many needed items across the southern California area.

Hope Force Reservists from southern California -- totaling over 100 in the region - distributed needed supplies to evacuation centers and those in hotels who had to escape their homes, and have been available as emotional and spiritual caregivers. HFI also  responded to a request from the Emergency Operation Center of San Diego, securing needed goods such as cots, blankets, water, etc. -- all of which were used at Qualcomm Stadium.

In Orange County, Reservists were called out on Citizen Emergency Response Team efforts, some served in local shelters, and others worked with Operation O.C.  Additional efforts were underway through our partnership with "Giving Children Hope", a non-profit agency located in Orange County, which has donated large quantities of needed items and served as a donation site.

Currently, there is assessment being conducted for involvement in recovery operations.  We are grateful for the current containment of the fires and favorable weather conditions.
