Arvis Wiggins is a Hope Force Reservist and joined the team as a translator. His previous work as a missionary to Haiti made him an invaluable asset to the team with his knowledge of the country, its people, customs and culture. “I was touched and blessed by talking to the Haitian people,” he says. “Even though each of them had lost so much, they were thankful to God that He had spared their lives.
I sensed more openness and tenderness toward God than I had ever sensed during the twelve years I had previously spent in Haiti.
"As I talked with the people I could tell that some were ready to commit their life to Jesus. I was privileged to lead three women to a personal faith in Jesus. One of the women was an albino Haitian. She had many sores on her body, including a very bad place on her arm. After Dr. Garrett and the nurses had treated her, I talked with her about the Gospel. She made a decision to place her trust in Jesus.
"
Another lady had four-year-old twins. Like everyone else she had a heart wrenching story. Her husband was a vendor who went to an island just off

of Haiti to buy salt to bring home and sell. He was gone at the time of the earthquake, and she had not heard from him since. It had been two weeks since the earthquake and she was afraid he was dead. Her house was destroyed. She was left with small twins, and she had little hope she would ever see her husband alive. As we talked, she made a decision to commit her life to Jesus. Our Heavenly Father took her into His arms, and I know He will open doors for her and her twins.”
